Deirdre Nero is a proud member of the Board of Directors of The National Alopecia Areata Foundation (“NAAF”), and became the Secretary of the Board in January 2017.  Originally from New Jersey, Deirdre has lived in Florida for over 20 years. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Florida State University in Communication Studies and Spanish in 1999. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from FSU, Deirdre moved to Spain and worked as an English teacher for a year. Upon returning to Florida, Deirdre attended the University of Miami School of Law, where she graduated with honors in 2003 and passed the Florida Bar. Deirdre is a practicing attorney who owns her own law firm in Coral Gables,FL called NERO Immigration Law, P.L. where she and her team offer boutique Immigration & Nationality Law services to individuals and companies across the globe. She has served and currently serves on the Boards/Leadership teams of several business and civic organizations.

Deirdre has served as an Advocate and Legislative Liaison for NAAF since 2012, where she has been instrumental in achieving numerous wins for the Foundation in Washington, DC, including the introduction of HR 4989-The Cranial Prosthetic Medicaid Coverage Enhancement Act, and selection of Alopecia Areata for a disease specific meeting for the Food and Drug Administration’s Patient Focused Drug Development Initiative. Along with her sister, Deirdre is the co-founder of a jewelry line called B.A.L.D., which raises awareness for Alopecia Areata and donates a portion of profits to alopecia related charities.Deirdre is a Star 2 Level Certified Spinning®Instructor by Madd Dog Athletics, and teaches Spinning®classes at the University of Miami’s Herbert Wellness Center. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her rescue dog, Marty, and her boyfriend, Eric.
