On March 8, 2012, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony and special event at the newly built, state of the art, University of Miami Tissue Bank located at 1951 NW 7th Ave.,  Miami.  Former member of our club, Thomas Temple, M.D., who is the present Medical Director and CEO of the Tissue Bank, honored The Rotary Club of Miami and presented a plaque designed by our member Nathan Kast to acknowledge the role that the Rotary Club of Miami played in the development of the Tissue Bank. Phil Seipp, Norman Kassoff, Linda Singer, and Gary Sisler received the plaque on behalf of the Rotary Club of Miami.  Joe Davis was honored but unfortunately was unable to travel to Miami from his home in Tallahassee to attend.  We know he would have loved to have been there. In his place, were his grown children who spoke on his behalf and transmitted Joe Davis' own speech to the audience.

After the ceremony, Nathan Kast led a tour of the tissue bank facility, which was incredible.  (If you ever have the opportunity to view this fine facility, do so and wear warm clothing!) Four rooms in the Tissue Bank are known as the Joe Davis Bone and Tissue Harvesting Suites.
