Midday Meeting via ZOOM
 
President Robert Bull welcomed everyone to our June 3rd ZOOM Meeting. This was our 50th meeting of this fiscal year.  We had forty-eight attendees, including Rotarians from Nepal/Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Colombia and Germany. 
 
Cory Gittner gave the invocation.  Noreen Timoney led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Announcements:
Today is National Chocolate Macaron Day:  Robert bought some typically French chocolate macarons at Atelier Monnier on South Dixie Highway. 
 
Rotary Fellowships Month: June is designated Rotary Fellowship Month. 
 
Rotary International Theme:  The theme for 2021- 2022 fiscal year is SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES.  Our new Rotary International President is Mr. Mehta from Kolkata, India.  The Rotary Club of Calcutta is the oldest Rotary Club in India.
 
Survey Monkey: We distributed a survey to all of our Members.  This is a short survey and may take you a total of two minutes to respond.  Please do so immediately.
 
Annual Dues: Dues for the 2021 – 2022 Fiscal Year are due.  Please make your payment right away.  We will be not want to have to chase after stragglers.
 
Thomas Brown McClelland Trust: Phil Seipp updated the Club on the most recent disbursements of Scholarship funds to the TBM Scholars Medical School.  This year, the FIU Medical School was the largest benefactor with the greatest numbers of awardees.  Marissa Miles was overwhelmed and thanked the Club.
 
Rotary EndPlasticSoup Action Day: June 5th is a Worldwide Rotary EndPlasticSoup Action Day. Everyone is invited to participate.  It super easy.  Just pick up plastic litter around your neighborhood, the parks, beach, wherever you go.  Then take of photo of what you have found and post it on Social Media with a hashtag. 
 
Father’s Day: Father’s Day is coming up, so at our June 17th meeting we will have a raffle of a Rotary bag full of goodies.  Currently, it looks like Marcia Brod will win yet again.  She has bought the greatest number of tickets. Tickets are just $1/place on the Picker Wheel.
 
Installation of the 105th President: Noreen Timoney will be installed as the 105th President of our Club on June 25th.  This event will be held at the Miami Police Benevolent Association Hall.
 
Keynote SpeakerRobert Bull introduced our keynote speaker, Melissa Abdo, PhD.  Dr. Abdo is Sun Coast Regional Director for the National Parks Conservation Association.  This entity was established in 1919.  Melissa is a conservation biologist and I have heard her speak before at a ZOOM webinar of the Tropical Audobon Society.  By the way, I am also a member of the NPCA.   After the Q&A period, Robert Bull presented Melissa Abdo with a Certificate of Appreciation and mentioned that a tree will be planted in his honor at our next tree planting.  We will email a photo of the tree with the dedication.
Happy Dollars: donors were Robin and Susie Shelley, Marcia Brod, David McManus and Carlos Bonadies who donated funds to the TBM Trust.
 
COVID IN INDIA; Our Club sent funds to two Rotary Clubs in India (Rotary Clubs of Madras and Vishrambag).  Two oxygen concentrators will be purchased to save lives.  
 
Four Way Test: Phil Seipp led us in the Four Way Test to end our meeting.
