Midday Meeting Via ZOOM
President Robert Bull welcomed everyone to our January 28th meeting. He advised that this meeting would be a bit different, but let’s sit back and enjoy it. For those of you who did not know, Robert was speaking from Bangkok Thailand, where he and Stephanie Bull were in a COVID quarantine location.
Arlene Terrinoni led us with the invocation and Steve Dutton recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Today is the National Blue Berry Pan Cake Day. Robert did the best he could do in quarantine and showed us plain pan cakes but asked all to imagine that there are blue berries on top.
Announcements:
For Birthday’s & Anniversaries. Steve Dutton’s birthday is Jan. 30th, Blanca Sola is Feb. 1st, if anyone has seen her, please give her our best wishes. And Bunny Uriarte’s birthday is Feb. 2nd. Happy Birthday to all of you.
For anniversaries, Scott Richey will be celebrating 17 years of Membership and Robin Shelley will be celebrating 33 years, both of them on Feb. 1st.
GBI Rx Project: Phil Seipp updated us on the GBI Rx project. We are receiving a lot of support for this project. We even received a large donation from an Electric Company based in Europe. We have also received goods-in-kind which means that instead of money we have received items. A doctor has sent a full operation room.
Tree Planting at Crandon Park: Robert reminded everyone that we have our Tree Planting Project at Crandon Park is scheduled form Saturday, March 13
th. Time is running out if you want to dedicate a tree. We need to advise Million Trees Miami in two weeks’ time as to the total number of trees that we will plant. Everyone is invited to attend the planting.

If you do, get out and vote. Have your family, friends, business colleagues, everyone vote. We are now is second place. The Bombay Rotary Club submitted their video a few days ago and in no time, they passed us and are now in first place. They have fifty-five members, but they got many to vote.
Losing is not an Option. This is down to the USA versus India. Actually, it’s Miami versus Mumbai. So please vote and get everyone you know to vote.
Speaker: Our speaker this week did not need an introduction, it was
President Robert Bull. Several had asked him about the trials and tribulations of Stephanie’s and his trip to Thailand.
Robert explained the complications and delays in receiving permission to entry Thailand. It’s a long process, as was the trip. Once in Thailand, everyone must go through a fifteen quarantine in an Alternative State Quarantine facility. These are basically hotels that all follow the exact same safety protocols and testing to ensure that those arriving to Thailand are not carrying the disease. If unfortunately, one were to present symptoms, then it’s off to the hospital for a minimum of twenty days, regardless of the severity of the disease.
Carnival 2021 Raffle: Then came the fun part, The Carnival 2021 Raffle ticket sale for a Bottle of
Fifteen Year Aged Rhum Barbancourt.
The winner will be selected on February 4
th based on the spin of the Picker Wheel. The proceeds of the Raffle will go towards a beautification and tree planting project in Little Haiti with their Rotary Club. In case you do not know, our Club sponsored the founding of that Club. Diane Landsberg and Noel Renel were key in getting this accomplished.
Happy Dollars: The following had something to be happy about and they were:
David McManus (Happy to see Robert & Stephanie are doing fine in quarantine),
Noreen Timoney (happy not to have to eat Thai food for most meals),
Robin & Susan Shelley (happy they got their COVID vaccine),
Carlos Bonadies (happy that his daughter is back happy to be back in school with classmates and teachers) and
Dave Skinner (was very happy).
