The Miami Yacht Club
President Tim Ryan welcomed all club members and visitors to the Rotary Club of Miami’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Being the resident Irishman – he was appropriately decked out. The stories were many, as were the laughs.
Robin Shelley shared an Irish Blessing to carry on the St. Patrick’s Day theme:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Scott Richey led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Tim proceeded to quiz the group about all things Irish – results were very mixed.
Guests and Visitors were introduced by new member Michael Hilsbos (working hard already!)
- Arturo E. Enamorado, guest of Oliver Ruiz, is a visiting Rotarian from the Tegucigalpa, Honduras Rotary Club. He is president of the Honduran Chamber of Commerce.
- Arian Pousa, guest of Randy Lichtman, works at Miami Dace College doing research and also finds time to be a RE/MAX Real Estate agent.
- Ruth Esmeralda Romero Latoric is a visiting Rotarian from the Bogota Centerorio Club in Colombia.
- Leslie Forrest, a guest of Diane Landsberg, is an HR Consultant.
President Tim passed on birthday wishes for those members celebrating in March: Oliver Ruiz, John Harrison, Marcia Brod and Brian Tschirhart. Another year older and wiser for all four!!!!

- Robin Shelley was looking forward to the Club’s 100th Anniversary Gala. Plans are well underway. He was also looking forward to celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Another chance to party!
- Oliver Ruiz was glad to have Arturo join the meeting.
- Randy Lichtman was excited that Arian was able to attend and check out the club.
- Jay Almeida was a happy guy and thanked everyone for their work and dedication. He also shared a Donald Trump-like photo of David Anderson.
- Linda Singer was excited about a Stretch Zone session she had – it made her feel great!
- Auturo Enamorado was happy to join the meeting today and have so much fun!
- Marcia Brod was happy to be married for 42 years to a forgiving guy like Lenny. She forgot their anniversary and was still allowed to come home!
- Phil Seipp was thrilled to have the car raffle come to an end with the drawing of the winner today. He also reminded folks who had signed up for the TBM interviews this week that they need to be there between 7:30-7:45am.
- Dave Anderson had special words for our visiting Rotarian from Colombia. Since this scribe does not speak Spanish – I can only assume he was welcoming her to Miami and the Club.
- Diane Landsberg was glad to have Leslie visiting.
Announcements:
- Robin and Susan Shelly will be co-hosting a fundraiser for State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle’s reelection. The event will be Monday, April 4 from 6:00-8:00pm. Anyone interested needs to RSVP.
- Randy Lichtman reminded everyone to RSVP for the April 7th lunch meeting at the Miami Dade College School of Culinary Arts.
- Tim Ryan presented Shirley Pardon with a Rotary pin welcoming her as a member (the pin was a long time in coming – she’s been a member for quite some time!)
The Program was introduced by Shirley Pardon
- The Miamians, which is the chorus of the Miami Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, was founded in 1948. It grew rapidly and by 1951 was the second-largest chapter in the entire country.
- The members of the Lucky Charms Quartet are part of the 50-member Miamians chorus. They sang their hearts out at the meeting and everyone had a wonderful time. The songs were familiar to everyone and it was impossible not to sing or hum along. A great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!!!!
Raffle Drawing:
This year’s fundraiser was the raffling of a 3-year lease on a Lexus. The drawing was made and the winner was Norissa Glickman. Congrats!!! Phil Seipp sold the most tickets and received $500 for his efforts.
Ted Eldredge led everyone in the 4-Way Test.
