Midday Meeting via ZOOM
President Robert Bull welcomed everyone to our March 4th meeting. This was our 36th Meeting of this fiscal year. We had over forty attendees. Robert’s virtual backdrop was a view of a beach on Phuket.
Noreen Timoney, our President Elect gave the invocation. Frank Voytek led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Annoucements:
National Women’s History Month. Since 1987 March has been designated as National Women’s History Month. The United Nations has designed March 8
th as International Women’s Day.
Our Rotaract Clubs will be celebrating
World Rotaract Week. This runs from March 8
th through March 14
th. March is also
Rotary Water & Sanitation Month. As you know, this is one of Rotary’s Key areas of Focus.
Given that Water & Sanitation are a key focus of Rotary, I want to encourage you to join
WASHRAG. Washrag is a Rotarian Action Group. Action Group are not part of Rotary, but follow Rotary guidelines and support their specific goals. In the case of waHsrag, it supports Water & Sanitation. Several members of our Club of Members of washrag. Robin Shelley and I are members. Please visit.

Birthdays/Announcements: Oliver Ruiz, one of our Past Presidents is celebrating his birthday on March 8th. While Brian & Kathy Tshirhart are celebrating 43 years of marriage bliss. Congratulation to all of you.
Assistance to a child in Latin America: Young Santiago, from Peru, is now in Chile awaiting medical attention. He has one lung and cardiac insufficiency. To travel to Chile from Peru, and to be able to have some mobility, he needed an oxygen concentrator. Our member
Patti Urban was able to find this equipment and donated it to Santiago in the name of the Rotary Club of Miami.
Tree Planting at Crandon Party: We will be planting two hundred (200) green buttonwood tress in Crandon Park this coming March 13
th. Please volunteer to plant these trees. Green buttonwood trees are salt resistant, are native to Florida and will be helpful retaining the coast line. An email blast was sent out early this week for details. You do NOT need to dedicate a tree to plant a tree,
Matzvah Mitvah: Registration is open for this event. We will be distributing Passover foods to homebound elderly senior citizens and holocaust survivors. It’s on March 21
st and an email blast went out earlier in the week. Just click on the link and sign up. Details will be forthcoming.
Virtual Walk-A-Thon: FIU’s Medical Students are conducting a fundraiser with the goal of helping underserved in their HELP project with transportation insecurity. Bus passes provide a means to going to receive medical care and getting groceries from the SuperMarket. Please support their initiative. An informative email blast was sent out earlier.
Dress for Success: Noreen Timoney explained the details for this program. Essentially, gently used clothing is provided to thus who need better clothes to go to job interviews or start work.
Beauty Initiative & Mission Hope Hygiene Drive: Noreen Timoney continued explaining the Beauty Initiative where feminine hygiene products are donated to women at risk or in shelter. She also covered the Mission Hope Hygiene Drive where bags of hygiene products are donated to the homeless.
Keynote Speaker:
Noreen Timoney then introduced our keynote speaker, Mr
. Ralph Campbell. Mr. Campbell an expert on ontological leadership, performance-based consulting, diversity awareness, and youth mentoring. Most of Mr. Campbell’s presentation dealt with the concepts of mindset and the importance of having a positive/growth mindset. Ralph provided gift for our Rotarians and guests. After the Question & Answers period, Robert Bull, presented Mr. Campbell with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Four-Way Test: Marcia Brod ended the meeting by leading us in the Four-Way Test.
