President Norby Rudel called his first meeting as President of the Rotary Club of Miami to order. Noreen Timoney gave an invocation. Greg Giddens led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Guests and Visitors were introduced by Norby Rudel:
Simon Davila – is a visiting Rotarian and past President of his Rotary club in Venezuela. He announced that he is in town for business and would like to collaborate in our activities while he is here, and he would also like our help with projects that he is working on with the humanitarian emergency in Venezuela. He commented on how hard it is to operate the club under a dictatorship.
Chris Barcenas – is a Realtor for Keller Williams Capital Realty. He kept hearing about Rotary from friends and family, so he decided to come see what Rotary is all about.
TBM Recipients Kristina Danielle Rojas, Raphael Christian Murat and Julia Mejias Garcia all introduced themselves and expressed how grateful they are to have received our financial support that allows them to attend medical school. It is truly an honor to help.

Program
Club President Norby Rudel on the District 6990 Multi-Media Website
The 6990 District is seeking to break new ground in the social media world by creating a “District Family” platform. This will be a virtual magazine of sorts for Rotarians, Rotaract, Interact, Inner Wheel and Rotex members – on Facebook, Instagram, our own YouTube Channel and on a blog for those who want to contribute!
Benefits:
Build our brand by integrating with and expanding our current District Website
Tie together and bring closer all 45 Rotary Clubs, their respective sponsored Rotaract and Interact Clubs, Inner Wheel and Rotex on a hyper local level.
Improve the relationship and awareness of our younger generations
Improve communication, camaraderie, appreciation and affiliation for the 6990 District.
Create a much bigger social media presence and clout for Rotary, the 6990 district in general and for our individual clubs.
Discover talent and diversity in our District by providing multiple opportunities and encouragement for members to contribute to our social media platform by providing video, photo and written content about Rotary related activities including projects, socials and fundraisers.
Create learning opportunities for those interested in videography, interviewing, broadcasting, writing, editing, production, etc.
Provide a central online meeting place where one can easily see all the calendared events in the District including seminars, trainings, announcements and special events.
Create more opportunities for membership growth
Collect advertising revenue
All members are encouraged to check out this website, that our fellow Rotarians in Germany are using as an example: www.rotary1940.org
VERY IMPORTANT to use the Google web browser so you can translate the page!
