President Diane Landsberg welcomed everyone to the meeting. She commented that everyone was lucky to have missed the rain, just as Brian Tschirhart was trying to close his umbrella and enter the room….he was the wet and unlucky one today.
Oliver Ruiz gave an invocation and Cory Gittner led everyone in the pledge.

Dave Anderson was in charge of collecting happy $$$$$$ and there were a bunch of them:
Dave was happy to be at the meeting and also reported that he enjoyed the District Assembly.
Rick Hernandez spoke of an accident he had that totaled his car. The good news is that he was not at fault in the accident (someone decided to just to abandon their car on US 1) and everyone walked away without any injuries.
John Carroll was thrilled that both his daughters are now living in Houston. Make visiting a whole lot easier.
Susan Shelley was happy about hubby Robin’s awards received at the District Assembly.
Robin Shelley was proud that his grandson came in 1st place in the Southeastern Dingy Championship.
Marcia Brod, a 20-game ticket holder with the Marlins, was happy that they finally won a game, even though it wasn’t exactly a pretty victory.
Diane Landsberg , with Cathy Cahill and Robin Shelley, attended an awards program at the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless to accept a plaque on behalf of the Club for its donations to the organization.
Oliver Ruiz couldn’t attend the District Assembly, but posted a lot of the event happenings on the Club’s FaceBook page. He also thanked everyone who came last week to the Seasons 52 restaurant for happy hour and gave an additional “shout out” to those who participated in the Great Escape Room – besides Oliver, the others clue chasers were Linda Singer, Dave Skinner, Marcia and Lenny Brod, Jay Almeida and Rick Miller.
Norby Rudel continued to be happy about the ongoing positive results of the Peace Conference. He is hard at work with peer mediation group formed at Young Men’s Prep.
Announcements:
Fred Anderson, Dave Anderson’s dad, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the District Assembly for his many years of service in Rotary, including 57 years of perfect attendance!
Norman Kassoff announced that our own Robin Shelley received the Rotary International Foundation Distinguished Service Award. Congratulations Robin!!!! Norm also mentioned that Robin received the Exceptional Achievement Award from district governor Joe Roth. Linda Singer was also recognized for her six Paul Harris Fellowships.
Robin wanted to share that Susan was also a winner at the District Conference. She won a lovely fruit basket in a raffle!
Randy Lichtman announced that a date for the next Peace Conference, co-sponsored by the club and Miami Dade College, has been set and will be held on October 25, 2015. In case you didn’t know….that’s United Nations Day!
Speaker:
Norby introduced our speaker – Bray LaDow, Senior Special Events Coordinator and Group Sales Representative of Miami Marlins.
Bray and the Marlins want to share Marlins Park as an events venue with the community, in addition to being a beautiful venue for baseball.
The Marlins organization is committed to the Miami Community and every employee is a part of a team that works on a regular basis to help in our community.
Bray promised (we hope he’s right) that the team would start to win. The season is a very long one and, no matter what, it will be fun and exciting.
All sorts of special promotions are presented during the season to enhance the experience.
Art tours and tours of the park are provided on a scheduled basis.
Major League Baseball will bring the 2017 All Star Game to Marlins Park.
Robert Bull concluded the meeting by leading the 4-Way Test.
