The meeting was called the to order and President Noreen Timoney welcomed those attending.

President Noreen shared with the club the sad news of the passing of our treasured club member Renel Noel. He was a special individual, great Rotarian, and wonderful friend, and he will be missed by all. Jay Almeida gave an invocation dedicated to Renel, including a moment of silent reflection.

Shirley Pardon led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Noreen urged us all to pray for Peace around the world. She shared that this was a constant theme at this year’s Rotary International Convention just completed in Houston, Texas.

Saturday, June 18 – Club Garage Sale at Diane Landsberg’s home. Volunteers are needed to help.

Today’s Program:

• Michael Miller co-owns Community Newspapers with his brother Grant and serves as Executive Editor of the group of newspapers. He enjoys writing about local politics and area businesses.

• Miami's Community Newspapers promotes local news and events in our community to us and our neighbors and covers the areas of: Aventura, Biscayne Bay, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Doral, Homestead, Horse Country, Kendall, Miami Beach, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, South Miami, Sunny Isles, and West Park.

• Community Newspapers has become truly a multi-media company. Their reach covers our issues in the entire Miami-Dade community via multiple venues – Podcasts, community gathering events, print and multiple social media sites.

• Mr. Miller is proud of the company’s involvement with local business and its effort to promote and highlight the diversity of the local community.

• They have offices, since the company’s beginning, in South Miami that feature two studios where their shows are produced.

Mr. Miller shared his insights about current market trends and the current state of the news industry. A robust question and answer session followed his presentation.

President Noreen thanked Michael Miller for his commitment to true news reporting and emphasizing community involvement. She presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation and shared that we would be planting a tree in his honor at our next tree planting.

Happy $$$$$ will be contributed to the Little Haiti Football Club in memory of Renel Noel and also to TBM in honor of the Club’s TBM Scholarship Awards. Those contributing were: Noreen Timoney, Brian Tschirhart, Robert Bull, Diane Landsberg, Mike Miller, Marcia Brod, Marissa Miles, Randy Lichtman, Carlos Bonadies, Angela Deggs, Miryan Cotrina, and Phil Seipp

Marissa Miles was also happy to share that her LJ’s Impact Foundation has received its first grant! The mission of LJ’s Impact Foundation is to help support children and their families dealing with childhood afflictions and illnesses by contributing to programs which improve their health and well-being.

President Noreen thanked Michael Miller, our members, our guests, and volunteers.

She reminded us that, although we will miss seeing Renel, we will remember his wonderful smile and warm spirit and shared some reflections.
