President Norby Rudel rang the bell at 12:30 sharp and welcomed everyone to the meeting. Linda Singer gave an invocation. Cory Gittner led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Diane Landsberg was happy to have had pizza with our very own rock star Norby at Anthony’s last Wednesday. She is also happy with all the good work that Renel is putting in to get the Rotary Club of Little Haiti up and running.
Norby Rudel started a new program for running to do a half marathon. He is also happy because he got his biggest tip night ever. Go Norby!
Marcia Brod just got back from Park City, Utah with her family. They also went to Denver and had a great time.
Renel Noel was happy to see Jocelyn and happy for his ’40 year old teenage girls’.
Robin Shelley was happy to have participated with the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove at Greenstreet Cafe to benefit the charity – Act for Me.
Bunny Uriarte is excited that it is Fall and we are all together. She informed us of her recent plans for a career change and we encourage all Rotarians to think of Bunny if you hear of any job openings in the community that may be a fit for her. Bunny would be a great asset in any organization.
Robert Bull encourages us to help Bunny find a new job. He also reminds us to donate new white socks for the homeless for Socktober. He thanked Bunny for the bilingual books for the kids in Homestead.
Tinkerbell was happy to see Bunny today.
Jay Almeida thanked Diane for hosting the Rotaract event at her home last Sunday. He said we should work on the Feed Miami program for Miami this year.
Phil Seipp said he will be able to see us better after his cataract surgery. Happy Dollars are going to Polio today.
Announcements
October 10th and 17th are regular meetings.
October 24th is World Polio Day. This will be a combined meeting with the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove (one of the clubs we founded). Our own amazing Norm Kassoff, a polio survivor, is our speaker. This promises to be a great meeting. Please respond if you plan to attend for seating and food.
October 31st No lunch meeting. We are having a Halloween Party at Diane’s house. Please wear a costume, can be very simple. There is no charge, but it is a pot luck event. Please sign up to bring wine, appetizer or dessert. We have invited the Coconut Grove members to join us. Children are welcome.
The speaker for next week will be Norm Kassoff’s daughter. She will be talking to us about neurological disorders. We look forward to next week’s meeting.
We no longer have a relationship with our Social Media professional, Jessica Almeida. Jessica did an incredible job, and we thank her.

Paulette Pfeiffer “Tinkerbell”, Founder and Executive Director of Silent Victims of Crime
Silent Victims of Crime (SVC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to empower children of incarcerated parents in South Carolina and Florida by providing educational enrichment, social support, and positive mentoring, through our partnership with other agencies we assist with prison bonding visitation. We have operated in South Carolina since 2002 and Florida since 2011. Established in Miami by Paulette Pfeiffer, a philanthropist with 22 years of experience working with children of inmates, SVC's goal is to mitigate the risk factors associated with incarceration and help these children succeed in life. Today, our main program is LEADERSHIP, a mentoring program for children ages 5+ in Miami, aimed at teaching the children prosocial principles such as problem solving skills and career bound mentality through a wide range of educational and civic engagement activities. SVC also works with parents in CARE Court, a federal reentry program, helps coordinate specialized prison visitations to 19 facilities, and works to spread awareness about parental incarceration.
Their mission is to assist children of inmates by enhancing their ability to improve their economic, educational and personal stability and addressing behavioral, social and mental issues. We help these at-risk children to deal with life challenges in a positive, proactive manner that empowers them to make wise choices and contribute positively to society.
