ZOOM Meeting on October 8, 2021

 

Robert Bull welcomed everyone to the Rotary Club of Miami Evening Satellite Club Meeting.  This was also a joint meeting with the Alpha Generator Investment Club.  There were twenty-three attendees. 

 

Ariel Gonzalez gave the invocation and Robert Bull led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Announcements:

Today’s Date.  Today in 1945, President Truman signed the United Nations charter. In 1973, President Nixon announced that he would resign the following day.

 

ESMAG: On November 20^th, we will work with the Coral Restoration Foundation in Key Largo and visit their coral nursery in Tavernier and later help plant corals in Pickles Reef. We will attend a hands-on training program at the Foundation in the morning, and then proceed to Pickles Coral Reef.

 

Love w/ Love Project:  We have collected over 200 suitcases, duffel bags and backpacks to be distributed to foster children.  This past weekend most, if not all, of the items were cleaned and disinfected at Diane Landsberg's home.  The FIU Rotaract Club had a large contingent to help us complete this job.

 

Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held on November 20^th. The main walking event will be at Tropical Park, but you may also Walk around your neighborhood.

 

Alpha Investment Club: The investment process has recently started.  We invested in IYW and in about a week’s time, it appreciated +4.71%.  The currently have twenty-two members and funds to invest.

 

Keynote Speaker: Daniel Bull was introduced by his father.  Danny works with BBC and is based in Bangkok.  He is a graduate of the University of Miami from their School of Journalism.  His topic was the case for BITCOIN.  His agenda covered what is BITCOIN?  Why may one want to buy BITCOIN?  Finally, where to buy BITCOIN. Danny has been investing in BITCOIN for several years and his presentation was an “eye opener” for the attendees.  There were several questions during his presentation and even more questions, afterwards during the Questions and Answers period. 

 

President Noreen Timoney thanked Danny for an interesting and insightful presenation and displayed the Certificate of Appreciation that will emailed to him.  Additionally a tree will be planted in his honor at our next tree-planting event.

 

President Noreen Timoney then led us in the Four-Way Test to end the meeting.
