President Norby Rudel called the meeting to order. Norby gave an invocation and John Carroll led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Jimmy Smiley joined us again today. He is looking forward to becoming a member;
Deborah Dalal, a guest of Arlene’s, was happy to be at the meeting. She sells “My Strappy” cell phone carriers on line;
Kelsey Rumberg is a visiting Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Chardon, Ohio. She will be in Miami for a few months and works with start-ups.
Birthdays and Anniversaries
Jay Almeida continued celebrating his birthday – he received well wishes and a chorus of Happy Birthday for a second week – does it ever stop???

Robin Shelley was happy to see the brownie and ice cream dessert being placed on the buffet table;
Marcia Brod shared her trip to Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama. The Civil Rights Museum and the Peace and Justice Memorial (commemorating those that have were lynched in the U.S.) in Montgomery were very moving. Also went to a great museum in Birmingham – the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Museum – a must-see if you are in that area, even if you are not into motorcycles;
Dave Skinner was glad to see everyone at the meeting;
Steve Dutton will be cruising, possibly, over the next few weeks. If plans change, he is at least thankful that he won’t have to deal with the Ultra Music Festival and its accompanying noise, if he decides to stay home;
John Carroll was proud of his daughter who was rewarded by her employer for her work with a trip to Hawaii. Aloha!!
Phil Seipp was happy to see the Shelleys but surprised that they were at a new table and not in their usual spot;
Norby Rudel was happy to report that last week’s visitor Maribel Reyes will be joining the club. He also shared that he did a presentation on fundraising and persuasion at the FIU Medical School;
Rick Hernandez was glad that Ultra has been cancelled;
Jay Almeida shared that it’s hard, as a Brazilian, not to share hugs and kisses. He also said that incoming President Robert Bull is at PETS in Orlando getting training as he will soon be taking over the reins as Club President;
Kelsey Rumberg was happy to be at Rotary and in South Florida;
Jimmy Smiley was happy to be at the meeting and was the instigator for everyone singing Happy Birthday to Jay one more time.
Announcements
A terrific past presidents of the Rotary Club of Miami meeting was held with incoming president Robert Bull. Plans for the 2020-21 Rotary year are in the works;
A Corporate Sponsorship meeting will be held at the Yacht Club at 10:30 on March 12th. Anyone interested is invited to attend;
TBM interviews will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 21st and 28th. Orientation begins at 8:30 am and be held at the offices of the Dade County Medical Examiner. Sign up for one or more interview dates – it is an important part of our club’s work;
Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Levels 1, 2 and graduate will be held on March 14th. The club will reimburse attendees for their participation;
The District Training Assembly will be April 4th;
There will be a brief board meeting at the conclusion of today’s meeting;
Diane Landsberg passed around a signup sheet with all the member engagement opportunities – everyone should contribute to the club in any way they can;
Norby reported that there will be no board meeting this month;
Noreen Timoney shared the many community service opportunities in place and plans are being made to continue these efforts into the future. She also reminded members of the $100 Challenge – individual member projects that the club will support. Details on requirements will be sent out. Noreen is also looking for nominations from members for our next Distinguished Citizen Award.
Jay Almeida reminded everyone that they are all part of the Club’s Public Image Committee. We should all be sharing our activities and checking out the club’s social media sites. We even have a YouTube page. He passed out a business card to be distributed to prospects with the club’s social media sites and an invitation to lunch for the recipient. Pass them around!
50/50
Today’s 50/50 dollars will be contributed to our Thomas Brown McClelland Trust. The pot was $293 and Dave Skinner had the lucky first ticket pulled, but did not pick the winning Ace of Spades….so the pot continues to grow!
The meeting was concluded with Robin Shelley leading the 4-Way Test of the Things We Think, Say or Do.
