President Robert Bull called the meeting to order. Steve Dutton led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Arlene Terrinoni gave an invocation.
Guests and Visitors – There were many guests including Kemper Insurance’s Digital Marketing Manager James Godwin, former TBM Scholar and Physician Steven Fein, Norys Figuera, Robert Felton, Ozzie & Cindy Lafont and Dunia Miranda among others.
Announcements
Today is National Cheesecake Day.
We still have a few basketballs available for purchase to help us help the food insecure by buying a basketball for $25. FEED MIAMI and Miami Rescue Mission will benefit;
We are still collecting gently used clothing that will be delivered to the Notre Dame Cathedral personnel for distribution to needy people in that area of Miami. If you have any items to contribute, drop them off at Diane Landsberg’s home;
We are still collecting children's books for the future Little Free Library at the Historic Black Policeman’s Museum;
The Club just bought 200 backpacks that will distributed to children from under-served communities and will do this again in the fall.

August Club Membership Anniversaries:: Diane Landsberg 13 years, Marcos Menendez 14 years, Oliver Ruiz 11 years, and Brian Tschirhart 41 years. Congratulations!

We received International Greetings from the Rotary Club of Kfar-Saba in Israel.
Dave Anderson and Jay Almeida talked about the District’s Membership Video Challenge where each Member is asked to film their own 30-second video of: “Why are you a Rotarian?” Videos will be posted on the District’s Facebook Page.
Robin Shelley followed up with a review about the Rotary Foundation and how important it is for each of us to contribute. The Rotary Foundation has seven areas of focus where the foundation will invest: Peace & Conflict Resolution, Supporting the Environment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Basic Education & Literacy and Economic and Community Development.
President Robert Bull converted all of the funds he had in the pre-paid Meal plan into a Happy Dollars and EREY account. He then donated $25/each for wife and himself into EREY.

Marcos Menendez spoke about his recently released book that deals with how to eliminate worry and anxiety from your life. Marcos is a social entrepreneur and Rotary Club of Miami member who helps companies boost recognition and sales to their brand to attract and engage customers. Marcos is author of The Fakefear: How to Eliminate Worry and Anxiety from your Life, which can be found on Amazon. Marcos’ book is available in Amazon and he will donate $5.00 to our Club for every book a Member of the Club purchases. Please let Marcos know.

Noreen Timoney was happy that Marcos Mendez wrote a book and shared it with us today;
Robert Bull was happy for good times with friends, uplifting music and smiles;
Diane Landsberg was happy she received $425 in donations for her birthday that will be given to FIU’s Rotaract Club and Feed Miami. Diane requested for the balance in her pre-paid meal plan to be converted in a Happy Dollars and/or EREY account with the Club
Linda Singer was happy to watch Marcos Menendez’ growth through the years and that Dave is feeling much better!
Oliver Ruiz is happy his daughter celebrated a birthday on Diane Landsberg’s birthday and that he was invited to be a panelist on a Trademark and Copyright Do’s and Don’ts panel.
Robin Shelley was happy Marcos Menendez presented his book today!
Marcia Broad was happy for Marcos Menendez book and is grateful for Marcos’ good nature. Marcia was excited for next week’s speaker, Chris Caines, a friend of the club who documented his 400 days of around the world travel;
Dave Skinner was happy for Marcos Menenez’s success and that he is recovering from illness.
Oliver Ruiz led everyone in the Four Way Test.
Robert Bull commented that WEDNESDAY August 26 is Equality Day and we will have a Happy Hour meeting starting at 5:30PM. That day is the 100th anniversary of the certification of the nineteenth amendment that gave Women the right to vote. There will be special surprises for the ladies at the meeting. He then rang the bell to conclude today’s meeting.
