(SOCIALLY DISTANCED) ADOPT-A-PINE TREE GIVE AWAY Saturday Oct 3, 2020 (TROPICAL WEATHER PERMITTING)

South Miami City Hall parking lot,  6100 Sunset Dr, South Miami, FL 33143, from 8AM to 12PM  (first come first serve)

Dear friends of trees and a healthy environment,

We hope that you are being careful and staying safe during this terrible pandemic. We miss working together on our projects, but this is not the time for volunteers to be working in close proximity to one another, even for worthy purposes like planting trees. However, we hope that you are, like us and using this as an opportunity to plant more trees at your own home and/or to help neighbors and friends plant trees to make their yards more green.

One idea for improving your yards or other planting areas is to plant native pine trees. Pines were once the dominant vegetation of the eastern half of our county and it is shameful that we have basically destroyed a beneficial and very rare ecosystem that was also very important to our native fauna. If you are interested in getting and planting some pine trees, then Bob Welsh, a South MIami Commissioner and TREEmendous Miami board member, will be distributing 250 free trees on Saturday, October 3rd. We urge you to take advantage of this opportunity, and the details are as follows:

(SOCIALLY DISTANCED) ADOPT-A-PINE TREE GIVE AWAY
